About Me

The Big Picture:

My name is Ariel Feldman, and I am a 20 year old girl from the Northern Chicago ‘burbs. I grew up somewhat sheltered in the technology department — the rare times I used a computer, it was limited to Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word — so bear with me on my journey into computational neuroscience and neuroengineering. Often times, I wish I’d had more experience with computers as a kid, but I already gave a TEDxRiceU talk on this. No matter how hard it has been to get to this point, I love the challenge, and wouldn’t change it for anything else.

My Abbreviated Story:

My childhood was devoted to Taekwondo, a sport in which I obtained both national and international titles before high school. I am a Kukkiwon licensed 3rd Dan — think of this as attaining black belt status thrice, with sequentially more mentally and physically challenging tests — and am officially recognized as such by the World Taekwondo Headquarters. Growing up, I had my heart set on one day going to the Olympics. That is, until I dislocated my knee getting out of a chair. After being told I could no longer physically compete, I took to coaching the next generation of martial artists.

Quick Facts:

  • I am equally well recognized by employees at my local coffee shops, recreation center and 24/7 pie joint
    • Pie is and has always been my greatest weakness
  • A Python trap remix library is <compiling…> — a feat, considering Python is not a compiling language. Whether that will be open source or not, the world may never know…
